Vastrap 2010
For this easy-drinking Cape white blend, the winemaker selected traditional South African grape varieties – Chenin blanc, Semillon and Riesling – to make a wine with a level of complexity that contradicts its price tag. As lively as the folk music after which it is named, Vastrap is a well-balanced white blend for all occasions. It has a people-friendly 13% alcohol and food-friendly fullness in the mouth.

Vastrap (trample) music unites Khoesan trance-dance with Dutch folk music. Played on anything: concertinas, home-made violins, banjos and ‘blik-kitaars’ (guitars made using empty oil tins). The traditional excuse for a Vastrap party was the compacting of a newly laid cow-dung floor, but the ancestors are said to have preferred the open air.
