The Grenache is sourced from high altitude, old bush vines in the Piekenierskloof. The vineyard was planted in the 70’s and has decomposed sandstone soils.
The wine is made with 30% whole bunch, spontaneous fermentation and aged in combination of concrete egg shaped vessels and old 500L barrels. It was racked and blended after 12 months and then kept in stainless steel tank until bottling.
The wine shows bright red fruit with wild herbs and pepper on the nose, balanced with fine tannins and a mineral edge to the finish.
