The Anna Foundation aims to assist disadvantaged schools and communities by providing academic, social and environmental support and equipping children with skills for lifelong learning. On Solms-Delta the Anna Foundation programme is run five times a week and is open to all the children of the Wijn de Caab Trust beneficiaries. The core of the programme is the “3 R’s’: reading, right-ing and running which is based on a philosophy of holistic development and a belief in ‘Healthy Body, Healthy Mind’.

Solms-Delta activities 2010 – Report from Anna Brom:
We have lots of new and exciting programmes planned for 2010. This year we have a full time project manager working at Solms-Delta five days a week, for the full day. Two staff members from the local community, Quinton Daniels and Karlien Afrika, work at the after-school from Monday to Friday. They receive daily training and support from the project manager. Two facilitators are appointed at Franschhoek High School to provide individual assistance to the Solms-Delta children during school hours.
We have also appointed four teachers from Franschhoek High School to assist in the afternoons at our after care centre. The consistency from school ensures that these teachers are able to provide homework support and classroom support in the safety of the children’s own venue. A separate venue is being used for high school learners who also receive individual support from two school teachers.
In 2010 our focus is on ensuring that all learners at Solms-Delta receive the specific academic support they require. We have assessed each learner and are now monitoring their development and progress according to our milestone plan for the specific learner. Our 3 R’s Programme ensures that these learners are also stimulated physically as well as emotionally. The sports programme is followed two afternoons a week allowing for Friday afternoon play, arts and crafts or music.
The Primary school times are Monday to Friday 3pm-5pm and the High School Monday to Thursday 3.30pm to 5.30pm. We look forward to an exciting and challenging 2010 with our partners at Solms-Delta.
