Welcome Spring with a visit to Solms-Delta wine estate during the Franschhoek Uncorked festivities over the weekend of 4th and 5th September.
The wine meander is one of the Valley’s annual highlights and participating farms proudly welcome visitors to enjoy their own special wines, food and entertainment. Take a turn into Delta road off the R45 where a celebration of everything ‘van die Kaap’ awaits you at Solms-Delta: Kaapse music, Kaapsekos and Kaapse wine.
Wine tasting can be enjoyed with a wine pairing option where, for R50 per person a wonderful selection of delicious Cape snacks and local cheeses can be ordered. The food will be paired with each of the Solms wines and comes with pairing notes to take home and keep. Plan to feast at Fyndraai restaurant – either in the garden soaking up the breathtaking vistas, or inside, atop the glass floor and archaeological diggings. A great lunch menu of traditional Cape cuisine awaits you – try Karoo lamb loin stuffed with fynbos herb paste, wilde knoffel and rosemary flavoured braised onions, or Traditional wildsbokpastei with rooi ui marmalade and pan-fried wild mushrooms, or for the lighter appetites chef Shaun Schoeman’s sublime creation of Veldkos vegetable bake with bokmelkkaas and boegoe buttermilk sauce.
From noon, music of the rural Cape, with the talented and vibrant local musicians of the Cape Music Project, will lift your spirits and set the tone for a weekend of discovery and enjoyment.
